Summer Salad Saturday

Southern Whimsy is graciously hosting Summer Salad Saturdays... all June long! :) Take a look at her blog to see other fantastic salads... perfect for the hot summer weather.

I am sharing a recipe passed down from my Grandma's kitchen...very easy to make and delicious!

Fruit Salad

Ingredients needed:

8 oz cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp mayonnaise
1 large (1 lb 13 oz) can fruit cocktail, drained
1 small can pineapple tidbits, drained
1/2 pint whipped cream
1/4 lb small marshmallows
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, cut up

Directions:

Combine cream cheese, sugar and mayo with a fork and mix until smooth.
Add drained fruit.
Add marshmallows.
Add whipped cream. Put in mold or dish and chill for at least 6 hours (overnight is recommended).

And you now have a tasty Fruit Salad!

This recipe reminds me of my husband's grandmother. So nice to see you used real whipped cream instead of cool whip!

This reminds me of the frozen fruit salad that they serve here in Atlanta at the Swan house. I go there just to eat this. Thanks for peaking in at my blog today and my watermelon story and collage.
